Eduqas GCSE Maths paper structure
| Paper | Questions or marks | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Component 1: non-calculator | 120 marks | 2 hours 15 minutes |
| Component 2: calculator allowed | 120 marks | 2 hours 15 minutes |
Each component is worth 50% of the GCSE. For the 2025, 2026 and 2027 exams a formulae sheet is provided in every paper.
Tips for Eduqas GCSE Maths papers
- Eduqas papers are longer than AQA or Edexcel ones: 2 hours 15 minutes each. Practise holding your accuracy for the full time.
- With only one non-calculator paper, it carries half your grade. Written methods for fractions, decimals and percentages are worth regular practice.
- Eduqas also has an Autumn (November) series for resits, so there are more recent papers to practise with than the summer ones alone.
- Mark with the mark scheme strictly, including method marks: an answer with no working can lose most of the marks.
Frequently asked questions
Is Eduqas the same as WJEC?
Eduqas is the brand WJEC uses for its qualifications in England. WJEC GCSEs in Wales are different qualifications with their own papers.
How many papers are in Eduqas GCSE Maths?
Two: Component 1 without a calculator and Component 2 with a calculator, each 2 hours 15 minutes and 120 marks.
Can I use AQA or Edexcel papers to practise for Eduqas?
Yes. The content follows the same national GCSE Maths content, so other boards' questions are good practice. Use Eduqas papers for timing, since its papers are longer.
Which Eduqas papers should I do first?
Start with the older series while you are still revising topics, and keep the two most recent summer papers for timed mocks in the last few weeks.
