Tips for Cambridge IGCSE Additional Maths (0606) papers
- Practise Paper 1 without a calculator from the start: surds, exact trigonometric values and algebra must be fluent.
- Calculus and logarithms carry many marks and lead straight into A Level and IB Maths, so make them secure.
- Learn which formulas are on page 2 of the paper and which you must remember.
- Paper numbers such as 12 mean Paper 1, variant 2. Any variant is good practice.
Frequently asked questions
Is Additional Maths harder than IGCSE Maths?
Yes. 0606 goes further into algebra, trigonometry and calculus, close to the start of A Level Maths. It is usually taken alongside IGCSE Mathematics, not instead of it.
Is a calculator allowed in 0606?
Only in Paper 2. Paper 1 is non-calculator.
Is there a formula sheet in 0606?
Yes. A list of formulas is printed on page 2 of each paper, including the sine and cosine rules and some areas and volumes. Not every formula you need is on it.
Where are older 0606 papers?
Cambridge publishes recent series openly; schools can download more from the School Support Hub.
