What we cover

ESAT, taught 1-on-1 at your pace.

Modules we teach

  • Mathematics 1
  • Mathematics 2
  • Physics

For applicants to

  • Cambridge and Imperial engineering, science and related courses

Strategy

  • Timing at about 1.5 minutes a question
  • Full mock modules, reviewed 1-on-1

Free ESAT diagnostic

Send us a module you have tried, or the topics you find hardest on WhatsApp. In your free demo class we go through the questions where you lost marks, show you why, and give you a plan to your exams.

How the ESAT works

Checked against the UAT-UK ESAT materials in October 2026.

The ESAT, run by UAT-UK

  • Mathematics 1 27 multiple-choice questions, 40 minutes (everyone sits this)
  • Two more modules Chosen by your course: Mathematics 2, Physics, Chemistry or Biology. 27 questions, 40 minutes each

The test is computer-based and there is no calculator. Each module is scored separately. Check which modules your course needs on each university's admissions page.

We teach Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 and Physics. Tell us your course and we plan around the modules you need.

How we plan your ESAT preparation

Adapted to your free review: we spend the time where your marks are.

  1. DiagnoseYour free diagnostic: which marks went on content gaps, which on timing, and which on careless slips.
  2. Mathematics 1The maths everyone sits: algebra, functions, calculus, trigonometry and geometry, without a calculator.
  3. Mathematics 2 and PhysicsOnly the modules your course needs, with the extra maths or the mechanics, electricity and waves behind them.
  4. SpeedAbout 1.5 minutes a question: when to skip, when to estimate and how to check answers fast.
  5. Timed practiceOfficial module guides and past ENGAA and NSAA sections, timed, marked and reviewed 1-on-1.

Try two ESAT-style questions

Original questions at ESAT standard. No calculator, two minutes each, then open the solution.

Mathematics

What is the value of the integral from 0 to 2 of (3x2 − 2x) dx?

  1. 2
  2. 4
  3. 8
  4. 12
Show the worked solution
  1. Integrate: ∫(3x2 − 2x) dx = x3 − x2.
  2. At x = 2 this is 8 − 4 = 4, and at x = 0 it is 0.
  3. Answer: B. Option C is x3 evaluated alone, the usual slip when the second term is dropped.

Physics

A ball is thrown vertically upwards at 20 m/s. Taking g = 10 m/s2 and ignoring air resistance, how high does it rise?

  1. 10 m
  2. 20 m
  3. 40 m
  4. 80 m
Show the worked solution
  1. At the top the speed is zero, so use v2 = u2 + 2as with v = 0 and a = −10.
  2. 0 = 400 − 20s, so s = 20 m.
  3. Answer: B. Option C is what you get by forgetting the factor of 2 in 2as.
