UCAS points calculator

Add up your UCAS tariff points from A Levels, AS Levels and IB subjects in seconds. Choose each qualification and grade below, then read how universities actually use points, because many offers ask for grades instead.

Quick answer

UCAS tariff points for one A level: A* = 56, A = 48, B = 40, C = 32, D = 24, E = 16. Add the points for each qualification: A*AA is 56 + 48 + 48 = 152 points. Many offers are made in grades rather than points, so check each course.

How universities use UCAS points

Three A Levels

What are A*AB at A Level worth?

A Levels plus an AS

What are ABB at A Level plus a B in a different subject at AS worth?

IB subjects

An IB student has 7, 6, 6 at HL and 6, 5, 5 at SL. What are the subject tariff points?

UCAS points for students in India

Students in India applying to UK universities with Cambridge International A Levels or the IB Diploma use the same grades in their applications. CBSE and ISC Class 12 results are not on the UCAS tariff, so UK universities set their own entry requirements for them, usually as percentages in specific subjects. Check each university's international entry requirements page.

Using the calculator with predicted grades

Before results day, enter your predicted grades to see whether you are on track for offers that ask for points. Then try the grade you would get if one subject went down: if your total still meets the offer, you have a safety margin; if not, that subject is where extra revision pays off most.

More questions

Do Cambridge International A Levels count for UCAS?
