AP Physics exams
- AP Physics 1 42 multiple-choice questions in 85 minutes, then 4 free-response questions in 95 minutes: two more multiple-choice questions and a shorter free-response section. The course content stays the same.
- AP Physics 2 42 multiple-choice questions in 85 minutes, then 4 free-response questions in 95 minutes, the same format as AP Physics 1. The course content stays the same.
- AP Physics C: Mechanics and E&M Each exam has 42 multiple-choice questions in 85 minutes, then 4 free-response questions in 95 minutes. The courses themselves stay the same.
Our AP students' scores
- AP Physics 1 a 5 and a 4 in 2026
- AP Physics C: Mechanics a 5 in 2026
- AP Physics C: E&M a 4 in 2026
- AP Calculus AB a 5 in 2025
Results vary by student.
Students in India sit AP exams in May at an authorised AP test centre, usually a school.

Try two AP Physics questions
Original questions at AP standard. Give yourself two minutes each, then open the solution.
AP Physics 1 style
A 2.0 kg cart moving at 3.0 m/s collides with a 1.0 kg cart at rest, and the carts stick together. What is their speed just after the collision?
- 1.0 m/s
- 1.5 m/s
- 2.0 m/s
- 3.0 m/s
Show the worked solution
- Momentum is conserved: 2.0 × 3.0 + 0 = (2.0 + 1.0)v.
- 6.0 = 3.0v, so v = 2.0 m/s.
- Answer: C. Option B halves the speed, as if the masses were equal.
AP Physics C style
A 4.0 kg block oscillates on a spring with spring constant 100 N/m. What is the period of the motion?
- 0.20 s
- 0.63 s
- 1.26 s
- 2.5 s
Show the worked solution
- T = 2π √(m/k) = 2π √(4.0/100) = 2π × 0.20.
- T = 1.26 s.
- Answer: C. Option A is √(m/k) without the 2π.
